Iran’s pistachio export saw an 8,000-ton rise in the first six months of this Persian year (March 21 – September 22), compared to the same period last year.
Darab Hassani, an official in Ministry of Agriculture, told IRNA that Iran’s export of pistachio has grown from 55,000 to 63,000 tons in the same period this year, with its growth in value reaching from 392,929,000 dollars to 426,127,000 dollars.
He said that Iran’s pistachio production was expected to reach 278,426 tons this year (March 21, 2021 – March 20, 2022), from which 200,000 tons are expected to be exported.
FAO’s statistics indicated that Iran was in the first place globally in terms of production and area under cultivation of pistachio, but in the second place after the US in terms of export, according to Hassani.
The official also said that Iran’s total production of pistachio this Persian year is expected to see a significant decrease compared to last year; however, he noted, exports would remain in the same level.
