The performance report published by Iran’s Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization (RMTO) for the first nine months of Iranian Calendar (spanning from April to December 2021) demonstrates an increase in road performance in transit, passenger and freight transport.
Within this period, the road transit holds a record of 6.7 million tons that shows a 109 percent increase compared to the same period in the last year.
Also freight transport had been 376 million tons and it is estimated to reach 523 million tons by the end of year. This shows 2 percent increase compared to the same period in the last year.
Furthermore, passenger transport had been 76 million passengers, demonstrating 15 percent increase compared to the last year.
Boosting region-wide trade and transport through reinforcement of domestic and international corridors is a priority of Iran’s Government, aiming to shorten transit routes and reduce transport costs.
