Exports from Golestan Province stood at 120,000 tons worth $67.79 million in the first four months of the current fiscal year (March 21-July 22), registering a 25% decline in terms of weight, but a 47% growth in value year-on-year, according to a local official.
“Polystyrene, cheese, different types of pipes and profiles, iodine, particle board, copper wire, fish feed and tomato paste were the main products exported during the period,” Ebrahim Hosseini was also quoted as saying by IRNA.
Turkmenistan, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Poland, Armenia, the UAE, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Turkey and Kyrgyzstan were the main export destinations.
Imports to the province hit 1,862 tons worth $9.91 million during the same period, registering a 23% growth in terms of weight, but a 39% decline in terms of value.
The imports mainly included denim fabric and fustian, foots oil and diesel generator.
Turkmenistan, China, the UAE, India, England, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Germany were the main exporters.
A total of 6,439 tons of foreign goods worth $19 million were transited through Golestan during the period, registering a 165% growth in value.
The province earned 331 billion rials ($1 million) in customs revenues during the period, registering a 91% rise.
Golestan is located in northeast Iran and southeast of Caspian Sea.
