Iranian steel mills have produced as much as 18.1 million metric tons (mt) of the mineral in the first seven months of 2013, according to an official report.
Iran’s January-July production shows a 4.1% increase compared to figures reported in last year’s corresponding period, Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) said in a Tuesday report, citing latest figures by World Steel Association (worldsteel).
The worldsteel data also said that a total of 1.103 billion mt of steel has been made globally in the period under review which shows a 0.1% year-on-year decrease.
Iran produced some 2 million mt of steel in July which is 1.5% down compared to figures reported in July 2022. This is while the global steel output in July surged by 6.6% YOY to 158 million mt.
