Iran’s cereal production has increased by 13.5 percent to 20.3 million tons in 2022 making the country the world’s 14th biggest wheat producer, figures provided by FAO shows.
The latest report published by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) shows that Iran’s production of cereal increased from 17.9 million tons in 2021 to 20.3 million tons in 2022, which is indicative of a 2.4-million-ton growth.
The growth in Iran’s cereal production comes as FAO has reported a 1.4-percent cut in global production.
According to the FAO report, Iran’s wheat production has risen from 10.4 million tons in 2021 to 13 million tons in 2022, making the country the world’s 14th biggest wheat producer.
Iran’s wheat reserve was 11.5 million tons by the end of 2021, as said by the report. The figure is expected to reach 12.8 million tons by the end of 2022.
