Iran has become the fifth biggest producer and exporter of ceramic and tiles in the world, the head of the Iranian Tile and Ceramic Manufacturers and Exporters Association told IRIB.
According to Behnam Aziznejad, the tile and ceramic industry is one of the seven driving industries of the Islamic Republic and with the investments made over the past 15 years, this industry has developed significantly.
He put the total capacity of the country’s ceramic and tile production at 750 million cubic meters, saying: “Last year, 500 million square meters of ceramic tiles were produced, and in addition to meeting domestic needs, a significant part of the production was also exported.”
