Iranian-made tiles and ceramics are exported to 150 countries, including 80 percent of the export products to Pakistan and Iraq, an Iranian union official said.
Asghar Ahaniha, the chairman of the Iranian Ceramic Society, said on Tuesday that the export of Iran-made products to different countries hiked in recent years, so these products are exported to the African and Russian markets.
Since the cost of transportation in export is of great importance, the Iranian producers prioritize the export of their products to the neighboring and regional states, he noted, adding that Pakistan with a population of 280 million can become an extraordinary market for Iran.
Some Iranian producers export 50 to 60 percent of their products to other countries because the high-quality Iranian products are comparable with European products, he said.
Rozita Golpur, the secretary of the Iranian Ceramic Society, said that the share of Iran-made tiles and ceramics in the total export of the country experienced significant growth and that the Islamic state is unique in the region in this respect.
The quality of Iran-made tiles and ceramics is higher than that of Chinese products; therefore, Iran is a tough rival of China in the Middle East and Eurasia, she argued.
Iran’s export of tiles and ceramics has increased from 48 countries in 2020 to 150 states in the present, she said, adding that the Pakistani and Iraqi merchants purchase these products in rial rather than dollars.
Mahmoud Bazari, the director general of the Trade Promotion Electronic Office of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI), said that the 23rd International Fair of Tile, Ceramic, Sanitary Ware and Related Industries will be held at the Tehran International Permanent Fairground on January 19-22.
Some 100 Iranian and foreign companies will take part in the exhibition, he said, adding that tradesmen from Turkiye, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Russia, Syria, Belarus, and Tajikistan have so far expressed readiness to participate in the event.
