Iran opens 14th stone expo

The 14th Iran Stone Expo 2022 opened in Mahallat county in Iran’s Markazi Province on Tuesday.

The international expo kicked off in the presence of the deputy minister of industry, some foreign ambassadors, as well as tradesmen and artists active in the decorative stone industry at Nimvar Stone Exhibition Center in Mahallat county.

The space of the exhibition was enlarged by 30 percent in comparison to its area last year, so the expo kicked off in an area as big as 90k square meters.

The Nimvar Center stands second in size after the Construction Industry Exhibition in Tehran. It also ranks sixth in terms of exhibition space after Italy, China, Turkey, Brazil, and India.

Some 21k tons of decorative stones from 350 mines from around Iran were showcased in the last year’s similar exhibition. The current year’s exhibition provides stone suppliers with the opportunity to exhibit 32k tons of decorative stones extracted from 500 mines in 29 provinces throughout the Islamic country.

The 2021 International Decorative Stone Exhibition hosted five ambassadors and several foreign traders, but three ambassadors and two chargé d’affaires took part in the opening ceremony of this year’s exhibition.

16 training courses are scheduled to be held on the sidelines of the international exhibition.

The international decorative stone center is located 10 kilometers away from Mahallat-Nimvar road. The 14th Iran Stone Expo is scheduled to be held from October 11 to 14.
