Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) plans to increase exports of engineering and technical services to target markets to $6 billion per annum, announced the head of TPO on Monday.

Alireza Peiman-Pak said the country exported $48 billion worth of commodities during the year to March 20, while $53 billion worth of goods imported to Iran during the 12 months, IRNA reported.

Last Iranian year, the country experienced a favorable growth in production of petrochemical products, as well as food industry products, he noted.

The Official added that new export markets and neighboring countries are targeted for the current Iranian year.

Referring to the export of $480 million worth of techno-engineering services during the year to March 2021, he said: “The figure increased to $2.3 billion during the year to March 20.”

“Another important issue in foreign trade was prioritizing North-South and East-West corridors during last Iranian year, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development have cooperated in this regard,” noted the TPO head.
