The World Steel Association (worldsteel) has reported an 8.8% increase in Iran’s crude steel production in May 2023 compared with that of the preceding year.
From January to May 2023, Iran produced 13 million metric tons (mt) of steel, a 2.2% increase compared with the same period last year, according to worldsteel figures cited in a Saturday report by the IRNA.
That comes as average global steel production experienced a 5.1% fall in May 2023.
China was the world’s top steel producer in January-May 444.6 million mt of crude steel output, an increase of 1.6% compared to the same period last year.
