Official: Iran’s saffron exports rise 52% YOY

According to Rouhollah Latifi, the spokesman for Industry, Mine and Trade House of the Trade Promotion Commission of Iran, the value of saffron exports from the country has experienced a 52% growth during the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year (starting on March 21).

A total of 81,521 kgs of saffron worth $88m were exported to 47 countries, representing a 66% growth in weight and 52% in value.

Latifi stated that China has been the top export destination for Iranian saffron, importing 28,447 kg worth $33,327,691.

The other top destinations for Iranian saffron exports were the UAE (19,116 kg worth $21,033), Spain (15,513kg worth $15,925), Qatar (7,123 kg worth $7.1m), and Afghanistan (5,583kg worth $5,348,000), respectively.
