Tehran’s Mayor Alireza Zakani has said that the municipality controlled by him has clinched agreements with China worth 12-13 billion euros for purchase of inner-city transport vehicles, among other things.
Zakani made the announcement on Sunday as he briefed a meeting of Tehran’s City Council on his recent trips to China, including the one that took place last week.
He said that the agreements reached with the Chinese side will also include deals on construction of buildings and hotels. The Iranian side is also due to purchase 751 wagons as well as some one million vans, buses and motorcycles, he added.
Chinese companies have also agreed to help Iran build two more metro lines in Tehran as well as a tunnel that connects a central square in the city to a major highway in its south, Zakani further said.
