Iran has reported a four-time increase in the number of halal brands that manufacture products permissible under Islamic law.

Head of the Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran (ISIRI) Mehdi Eslampanah said on Sunday that the government body had issued 400% more halal certificates in the eight months to late November compared to the same period last year.

Eslampanah, a deputy Iranian president, said on a trip to the central Iranian city of Arak that the ISIRI would use all its capacities to expand the halal brands to help Iranian manufacturers boost their trade activities in international markets.
